Yunnan Provincial Museum

Yunnan was the home of the ancient bronze age Dian Kingdom which produced unique and spectacular artifacts, the most important of which are displayed here. Other artifacts are from the Kingdom of Dali which was contemporary with the Song Dynasty. Photos by Gary L. Kunming City Museum

Kunming was the home of the ancient Dian Culture which produced unique and spectacular bronze artifacts, some of which are displayed here. The bulk of the Dian bronzes are in the Yunnan Provincial Museum. The City Museum also has skeletons of some of Yunnan’s rare and unusual dinosaurs, as well as a sutra pillar and tomb markers from a Dali Kingdom temple of the Song Dynasty era which once stood on the museum site. Kunming, Yunnan Province

Kunming was home of the Flying Tigers during WWII. Today it is a clean, modern city with year-round spring climate. This album includes random shots from around town, plus a visit to the city zoo. My main interest was the two historical museums which are featured in separate photo albums. They both contain fabulous bronze artifacts from the ancient Dian Culture. Photos by Gary L.
