Panay

In January, 2012, we toured the Philippine island of Panay from where my wife’s family originally came. Starting in Iloilo, 9 of us visited family members there, then went to San Jose, Antique Province, and up the west coast of the island to Pandan, near Boracay. That road between San Jose and Pandan was probably the cleanest road I’ve seen anywhere. Most of the pictures of people will probably go on Amy’s Facebook. Photos by Gary L. Medieval & Renaissance Italy: Pisa, Florence, Assisi, Vatican, & Capri

These are photos of several important medieval and Renaissance cities in Italy, along with scenic Serento and the neighboring Island of Capri with its famous grottos. I also have a separate album for ancient Rome and Pompeii. I took the photos in summer 2000. Photos by Gary L. Ancient Rome: Forum Romanum & Pompeii

These are photos of the Forum Romanum, the heart of the Roman Republic and the later Empire. The Colosseum is next to the Roman Forum. Pompeii was a Roman seaport buried by a volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD and preserved through the centuries. I took the photos in summer 2000. Photos by Gary L. Philippine Islands, Atolls, & Cities: Aerial Views

Most of these shots are from Q300 or Q400 turboprop flights from Gensan on Mindanao to Cebu, Cebu to Caticlan, and return flights. I’ve also added a few jet views of Luzon and Manila. Boracay, Philippines

Boracay’s white sand beach has been rated as one of the best beaches in the world. Most people get there by flying to Caticlan and taking a small ferry to Boracay Island. We circled the island about ten times while waiting to land; hence, the nice aerial views. We also took a catamaran to nearby Crystal Cove and all around Boracay, with several stops for snorkling at coral reefs. Photos by Gary L. Mindanao, Philippines

General Santos City on Mindanao is where Amy grew up and where I lived for a year after we got married. We usually spend our winter break there every year between semesters. Lots of beautiful tropical scenery in these photos, along with some family places. Photos by Gary L. Mexico

Most of my Mexican photos were taken in archaeological sites and are filed in my Ancient Mesoamerican albums, or in the album from the INAH Museum in Mexico City. These are the remaining photos that are not of precolumbian artifacts. Photos by Gary L. Netherlands

Random photos of places in the Netherlands and Belgium taken in 1993. These are copies of ones I took before I got a good digital camera, but I intend to make better copies this summer (2011) and replace these. Photos by Gary L.
